Welcome Reina Alvarado – New Case Intake Analyst Joins CHA/SMP Team

Reina Alvarado

We recently hired our second newest staff member to join our CHA SMP team. Please join us in giving a warm welcome to Reina Alvarado!

Reina is the second of two new Case Intake Analysts hired, working closely with Rose Morales who joined us in July.

Bilingual in Spanish, Reina brings over 17 years of experience in the healthcare field, particularly in billings and claims. Starting in pediatric medicine, Reina also worked with durable medical equipment companies, chiropractic care offices and an insurance billing auditing company. In each setting, she gained responsibilities, handled the complex billing of Medicare, Medicaid and other insurance claims, and managed billing errors and audits. She also completed ongoing training in Medicare fraud and abuse. She loves analyzing things and investigating why things work the way they do, so Medicare and all its complexity is a good fit. Reina is excited to use her gained skills for her position as a Case Intake Analyst, and is responsible for analyzing data and identifying patterns of fraudulent activity.

For CHA SMP, she is responsible handling our SMP fraud cases, examining trends, analyzing data and identifying patterns of fraudulent activity. She will work closely with our partners across the state and nationwide, including the Administration for Community Living, Office of Inspector General and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Reina will also present findings and fraud prevention recommendations to federal agencies, law enforcement agencies, and other relevant parties, and will work with our team in providing training and Medicare fraud prevention education to Medicare beneficiaries, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders statewide.

Welcome Reina! We are excited to have you on our team!
