Even though we’re nearing the end of Medicare’s annual Open Enrollment Period (OEP), running from October 15 to December 7, scammers are still swarming. Open Enrollment is the time when people on Medicare can evaluate their current coverage and make changes to their Original Medicare enrollment, Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Plan, or private Medicare Advantage plan. Yet with so many choices and changes in coverage for the new year, scammers swarm in to take advantage of people’s confusion. They often pretend to be helpful while trying to steal your personal details, financial information, and hard-earned savings. Or, they pressure you to enroll in certain plans without making sure it is the best choice for you and your needs.
