Medicare Open Enrollment Ends Today 12/7 ~ Have You Chosen Your Coverage for 2013?

Medicare’s Fall Open Enrollment ends today 12/7 at midnight. Also known as the Annual Election Period (AEP) which runs from October 15 – December 7, this is the main time Medicare beneficiaries can disenroll from, enroll into or switch their Medicare Advantage and/or Part D prescription drug plans. Any change made by midnight tonight will be effective as of January 1, 2013.

See our page on the Annual Election Period for more info on what you can do during this time and what your coverage options are. We also have specific info on your options if you miss the AEP and still want to make a change. There is the Medicare Advantage Disenrollment Period (MAPD) from January 1 through February 14 and other Special Election Periods. Also, beneficiaries affected by Hurricane Sandy who miss the December 7 deadline have an ongoing Special Election Period to make a change. See our recent blog article for more details.
