The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, also referred to as the prescription drug law, brings a lot of good news regarding lowered drug costs as all provisions are implemented over the next five years. One of those areas of lowered drug costs is with vaccines. Did you know that as of January of this year, adult vaccines recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) are free for people with Medicare Part D? Some of these vaccines covered at no cost include:
- Shingles
- Tetanus/diphtheria (Td)
- Tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (whooping cough) (Tdap)
- Hepatitis A
- Hepatitis B
Flu shots, COVID-19 vaccines, and pneumococcal shots are also still covered by Medicare.
