Every act of generosity counts, and everyone has something to give.
#GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement that unleashes the power of radical generosity around the world. And this generosity makes our world a better place. We love this about #GivingTuesday, and it’s one of the reasons we at California Health Advocates are again inspired to participate in this yearโs event on November 30, 2021.
We invite you to join us in this global movement of generosity!
Your gift supports our work ensuring our older adults and younger people on Medicare with a disability are informed and empowered in understanding, navigating and accessing their health care benefits and rights, and that our Medicare program stays strong for generations to come!
This year, among our many projects and priorities, we have had the honor to work with several Native American tribes in California, such as the Morongo Tribe in Riverside County and the Graton Federated tribe in Sonoma County to provide Medicare training and counseling for their elders and general tribal members. CHA and our California Senior Medicare Patrol also have an agreement with the California Indian Manpower Consortium (CIMC) to provide basic Medicare education to tribal nation members affiliated with CIMC. In addition, we have compiled a resource page on our website that includes sources for Medicare, other healthcare programs, COVID 19 resources, and links to tribal healthcare clinics in California.
This work builds on the work weโve done previously with the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation and neighboring tribes. We recognize that one of the many ways the government has historically underserved Californiaโs tribal communities is with Medicare education, and our collaborative work serves to remedy this situation through building strong foundations for long-term partnerships based in understanding and respect for each communityโs elders and the medical providers who serve them.
Another priority has been advocacy efforts regarding long term care insurance (LTCi). CHA has been actively involved in the California Partnership for Long-Term Care since the creation of the program, and has supported quality standards and consumer protections in long-term care insurance products for decades. We promote high regulatory standards for long-term care insurance in the state legislature and at the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) where Bonnie Burns, our Policy and Training Specialist has been an appointed consumer representative since the beginning of the program in 1992. This fall, two of many LTCi projects Burns has taken on includes providing guidance to the California Department of Insuranceโs Long Term Care Insurance Task, and working tirelessly to keep consumers informed regarding CalPERSโ steep premium increases and the Class Action Settlement.
These are a couple of many priorities for us at California Health Advocates and many ways we have been working to ensure all those eligible for Medicare have access to their health benefits and know their rights.
In these uncertain times, we are honored to be the Rock people can count on for Medicare information and advocacy for a strong Medicare for many years to come. We are a small but dedicated team, and are passionate about making a difference.
Thank you in advance for your generosity in helping us fulfill our mission of generosity to the people, families and caregivers we serve. A tax-deductible gift of $25, $50 $100 or more will help meet our GivingTuesday goal and propel our good work on behalf of our stateโs 6.2 million Medicare beneficiaries and their families forward into 2022 and beyond. For those of you on Facebook, you can also give through our Facebook campaign. There, the complete donation amounts go directly to CHA (no percentage is taken out). You can also support California Health Advocates by making purchases through AmazonSmile. Itโs the same Amazon, but by purchasing through AmazonSmile, Amazon donates 0.5% of the price of your purchase to CHA.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Whether you give by sharing our information and resources with those who need it, are a first time donor or if you have supported us over the years, we are grateful for you! You and your generosity helps create a better world.
Thank YOU!!! ๐
