Medi-Cal - grandparents with grandkids, smiling outside

Did you know that as of May 1, 2022 all eligible adults in California, regardless of immigration status, can get free, full-scope Medi-Cal? This is great news! Medi-Cal covers preventive health care, annual check-ups, mental health care, prescription drugs and medical supplies, transportation, in-home personal assistance, dental and vision care, foot care, hearing aids, long-term care, and more.

You can apply for Medi-Cal at your local county welfare office and/or through Covered CA:

  • Contact your county office through BenefitsCal.com.
  • Find your county office’s information at http://dhcs.ca.gov/COL.
  • Apply for health insurance coverage at CoveredCA.com and (800) 300-1506.
  • Get help applying at a community clinic at www.localclinic.net or with a community health navigator.

Our partners at Health Care Alliance have a new fact sheet translated in Medi-Cal’s 14 threshold languages that answers some commonly asked questions. See the links to the fact sheets below. If Medi-Cal denies your application and you need help, contact Health Consumer Alliance for free legal assistance at 1-888-804-3536.
