Fraud Prevention Summit 2012 Happens in Ventura County 9/13

California Health Advocates > Fraud & Abuse > Fraud Prevention Summit 2012 Happens in Ventura County 9/13

Posted by Karen Fletcher on August 30, 2012

Come learn about fraud, what it is, how to prevent and detect it, and where to report it if you do find suspicious activity. Our Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP) project, along with the Ventura County Area Agency on Aging, the local Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program, and Ventura County’s Financial Abuse Specialist Team, is hosting a half-day fraud prevention event on Thursday, September 13.

The event will be at the Courtyard by Marriott, 600 E. Esplanade Drive in Oxnard, starting with a continental breakfast at 7:45 a.m. and ending around 1 p.m.

Julie Schoen, our SMP Project Director will moderate the event, hosting 2 panel presentations. One will be on Medicare fraud and how to protect oneself against identity theft and insurance fraud. And the other will address health, elder abuse and prosecution. The panels will consist of representatives from the Office of the Inspector General, Adult Protective Services, Department of Insurance, FBI and District Attorney’s Office.

If you’re in Ventura and can make it, make your reservations early by calling 805-477-7310.

Visit our Medicare Fraud section for more info on fraud and our California SMP project.

You can also read a recent news article for more info on the event.
