CHA Calls for Increased Consumer Protections & Oversight of Part C & D Plans

California Health Advocates worked together with Center for Medicare Advocacy to submit comments on the proposed rule for Medicare Part C and D. While we wholeheartedly support several of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ (CMS’) stated goals of the proposed rule, namely to “strengthen consumer protections to ensure MA and Part D beneficiaries have accurate and accessible information about their health plan choices and benefits” and to “strengthen CMS oversight of MA and Part D plans”, more needs to be done. The proposed rule basically reverses some of the policies of the previous administration.

The submitted comments detail our support in certain areas and outline where more is needed. In section III., we also outline unaddressed issues surrounding consumer protections and industry oversight that we urge CMS to urgently confront.
