Reina Alvarado joined California Health Advocates (CHA) in 2023 as an SMP Case Intake Analyst. Bilingual in Spanish, she brings over 17 years of experience in the healthcare field, particularly in billings and claims. Starting in pediatric medicine, Reina also worked with durable medical equipment companies, chiropractic care offices and an insurance billing auditing company. In each setting, she gained responsibilities, handled the complex billing of Medicare, Medicaid and other insurance claims, and managed billing errors and audits. She also completed ongoing training in Medicare fraud and abuse. She loves analyzing things and investigating why things work the way they do, so Medicare and all its complexity is a good fit. Reina is excited to use her gained skills for her position as a Case Intake Analyst, and is responsible for analyzing data and identifying patterns of fraudulent activity.
